Jim,
The area in question had a bit of leaf duff. I added some composted ground
pine bark, lime, and some brought-in topsoil with granite grit to the bed. I
didn't want to enrich
the area too much, because it was intended to be a tropical bed, and many
trops don't tolerate high phosphorus levels. The main thing I did was to
raise the bed, since it's in a low area.
