Hardiness zones

Just a bit of trivia from my Adv. Arboriculture class that I found very interesting, and never gave much thought too before.

Texas has 5 hardiness zones. 6a to 9b

the Grand Canyon, because of altitude, has 4 hardiness zones from the desert floor up to the rim. The rim being akin to S. Canada. 

Haven't gotten to California yet, but I'll be interested to see how many they have.
