Re: OT - [rant alert] This is the sickest thing ever!

Re the article about British food aid being burned, I found a thread on
another of my mailing lists.

From the Sept. 10 London Times:
"But last night, five days after the first batches of aid arrived from
Britain and after negotiations with the British Government, the agency
waived the ban, paving the way for the food to be distributed to those who
need it. "
"A Cabinet Office spokeswoman said: "The United States Department of
Agriculture has cleared ration packs for onward distribution. Meals from all
EU member states have been cleared." 

Seems like there was plenty of needless delay and bureaucracy involved but
it wasn't quite as dire as the Mirror (which is, after all, a tabloid) made
it out to be.
