Donna, we have a satellite (Direct) but do not spend near that much!   More 
like half.   We got a dish after our cable line was cut every time there was a 
sm activity such as the lawn aerated, etc. I watch very little tv however if I 
wanted to   the good stations (HGTV, CNN, History, DIY) require cable or 
satellite.   Also my husband is a big sports fan.
     Hurray your mother is able to be up and out.   Imagine how great she 
feels!
