Donna, are you speaking of Perilla frutescens? That reseeds most
prolifically, but is quite easy to pull out in the spring. I always keep
some for color accents and to fill in bare spots in the late summer.
I think it's a bit strong for salads, but my Asian friends declare it to
be a choice vegetable, prepared in various ways.
