a few suggestions:

Annuals: 
Ipomoea batatus 'Blackie', the dark-leaved sweet potato vine.  It's great in 
combinations.  
Pennisetum setaceum 'Rubrum', purple fountain grass

Perennials: 
Ajuga 'Chocolate Chip' & 'Bronze Beauty'
Eupatorium rugosum 'Chocolate'
Geranium 'Elizabeth Anne' or 'Cappuccino', if you can find them
Origanum 'Herrenhausen'
Persicaria 'Red Dragon'
Polemonium 'Purple Rain'
Sedum 'Mohrchen' 

Shrubs: 
Weigela Wine & RosesTM ('Alexandra') and Weigela Midnight WineTM
