Re: Soil Food Web has Catch 22


I was recently nailed by a former extension agent for saying that I 
wouldn't usually advise people to mix organic fertilizers such as alfalfa 
meal with Osmocote, but that's what the local rose expert is advising.  The 
Extension "agent" snapped that plants don't know whether they're getting 
"commercial" or organic fertilizers.  Actually, I said "synthetic" instead 
of commercial, and I did say that ultimately soil would be harmed by 
synthetic fertilizers.  What do you guys do in a situation like that?  I
