Very true, but...... It's all the soil microbes--bacteria, virus and
fungi--that do the job. Mycorrhizae is just one piece of soil fertility.
And large amounts of nitrogen added to the soil kill mycorrhizae and other
microbes. The addition of anhydrous ammonia virtually sterilizes the soil
of these.
