Different types of mycorrhizae??

When I attended a presentation by Elaine Ingham, I remember a lot of
information being given about not planting perennials/shrubs and
vegetables/annuals in the same beds or near one another, because the
mycorrhizal activity from one sort of defeats the other. This is probably a
terrible over-simplification on my part, but...does anyone know more about
this? I'd like to write a mag article trying to explain why gardeners
should not rototill, etc.
I'd welcome more information.

thanks
