Ellen asked about clearing gravel and Roundup was used.


I remember the GWAA visit to Monsanto. It was fantastic. They do a lot of
very interesting things. However, as garden communicators, I question if any
of us should be suggesting that any home gardener use Roundup. Not only is
it bad for the soil foodweb, it appears from ever increasing evidence to be
harmful to humans. It is not, as they used to say, "Safe as salt" and the
New York State Attorney General's office will so confirm!  Here is a very
interesting site, perhaps biased but seemingly supported by some pretty real
University studies etc. This has nothing to do with genetic engineering or
organic vs non. The science is showing that the stuff is simply not safe to
