Re: Martha Stewart's Column on Soil

Specifically, Martha advocated rototilling every kind of soil, no matter its
condition.  Second, she says to till clay soil, add compost and let it set
for a couple of weeks before planting.  Third, she said to add compost to
boggy soil to get the plant roots out of the water.  Wrong!  You build
raised beds or berms to get roots out of the water.  Have much experience
here.  The compost and peat she says to add will only add to the water
retention problem.
