On nearly all photo contracts I receive, publicity use is included at no
additional fee.  Whether it is my book, or I am contributing to another, I
do not expect to get paid for publicity use, when the photo is directly
attributed to the book such as in a book review.

If an article is written where you or someone else writes a story using
substantial information derived from the book, I, as the photographer would
expect to be paid by the second publisher.  It is a new use, not a publicity
use.

Often in these times of corporate conglomeration and publicity tie-ins, the
lines get blurred as to new use and publicity use.  When writers,
photographers, and editors have good relationships we can usually figure
what fair use is and what budgets are. Trust is everything.
