I received the sample copy of Washington gardener.

Thank you. It looks like a winner. I liked the text a lot and what I 
perceived as your mission.

May I be honest? One aspect of the design, which is clever in theory, didn't 
work for me - it's hard to read the text when it is superimposed on a photo or 
dark background. I wanted to read the dandelion story but I was distracted by 
the photo. In the Ladew Garden article I wanted to see the photo but couldn't 
see it through the text. I don't know the technology, maybe make the photos 
fade more and only put text over unimportant parts of photos?

I look forward to the next issue, by which I mean to compliment the 
editor/publisher!
