These folks are selling search engine optimization - and trying to aggregate
a search engine into advertising dollars.
A common method is to run software to find terms such as "historic tours"
and harvest email addresses from the websites and then run whois searches to
do the same thing from broader ranges of sites. Merge the two databases and
you'll wind up with a list of sites/email contact addresses. In other words,
do multiple searches, add all the material together and use a merge command
to pull out the email addresses from sites. Send out an email "close" to
the site content. They'll get enough hits to make it worthwhile.
Sophisticated spammers are no longer sending out emails to make your body
better or sell you some Nigerian real estate - they are targeting you much
more efficiently. The power of computing!
Having said all that - it's your money and I'm a confirmed sceptic of
internet get-rich-quick stuff of all descriptions. Mind you, I'm already a
massive landowner of gold mines, am 30 years younger, and have the stamina
of an 18-year old with the enlarged body parts to prove it. And all I had to
do was share my bank account numbers with my Nigerian friends to get all
this.
I'll look forward to hearing how much all their services are going to cost
you and what exactly they're going to do for you. And what credit card info
you're going to share with them through which service. :-)
