Re: CSAs & bees
Jeff asked about CSA farms--I haven't taken the time to look for research,
but my sense is that the number of CSA farms continues to grow and also
that their diversification is increasing. At my CSA, for example, in
addition to your share, you can buy organically produced eggs, organic
bakery products, organic fruit and flowers from area growers who don't
have a CSA but who send excess to sell on our pick-up days, and lots of
crafts such as hand-made soaps, jams, jewelery, organic cotton clothing,
and trinkets from around the world. The two websites below can give you
more information, if you're interested. The first gives a directory and
the second has lots of resources and general information about CSAs.

And as for those bees: how outrageous! I'm bee-allergic, but all it takes
is a little common sense to avoid most stings. Beyond that, there's always
the pen. I wonder if a large enough outcry over this foolishness would
make these people reconsider. The power of the press, and all that.
