Re: Kathy Purdy's Comments

Jeff, there's your first GWA member who has a blog--only she didn't mention
it: http://washingtongardener.blogspot.com/. And let me second the motion
that the GWA site could use a lot of beefing up--but that's a thread in
itself. Websites and blogs change very frequently, so the best place for
such a column is as Kathy Jentz suggested--on the GWA website. Also, to
respond to Margaret, it is a lot easier to click on a url than to type it,
so having a directory of member websites and blogs on the GWA website makes
sense for this reason as well.

Have you seen Garden Voices <http://voices.gardenweb.com/> (
http://voices.gardenweb.com/)? It is the best way to keep tabs on the garden
blogging scene. The list of blogs in the sidebar that are contributing is
illustrative of the size and scope of this phenomenon. But the reason I
bring this up is that something similar could be set up for the GWA website,
using only members' feeds.

Other GWA members with blogs:
Susan Harris Takoma Gardener <http://takomagardener.typepad.com/tg/> (

Andrea Bellamy Heavy Petal <http://www.heavypetal.ca/> (

Jane Milliman Ear to the Ground <http://upstategardener.blogspot.com/> (

Mary Ann Newcomer Idaho Gardener <http://www.idahogardener.com/> (

Marion Owens Acorns <http://garden.blogware.com/blog> (

Jane Berger Garden Design

Amy Stewart Dirt <http://dirtbyamystewart.blogspot.com/> (

Phillip Swindells Garden Messenger<http://www.gardenmessenger.blogspot.com/>(
http://www.gardenmessenger.blogspot.com/) was a member at some point, but
not sure if he is now.

So those are all that I'm aware of. If I missed anyone, I'd certainly like
to learn of their blog--or their GWA membership. I would be glad to add them
to my Garden Blog
Directory<http://www.coldclimategardening.com/garden-blog-directory/>.
Jeff mentioned adding Doug's blog to his Bloglines account. I'd like to
point out that every blog that I add to my directory I also add to my public
Bloglines account. Anyone is able--and welcome--to import my entire
collection of garden blog feeds into their own Bloglines by accessing this
link <http://www.bloglines.com/public/ColdClimateGardening>, though I'd be
the first to concede that since Garden Voices came along this opportunity is
not as compelling as it once was. I don't list all the blogs covered by
Garden Voices. The list grows faster than I can keep up with it. I do list
everyone that requests it (provided they meet my requirement of original
content), but even then it sometimes takes me a week or more to get around
to it.
