Reviewers Wanted
Barbara Ellis and I recently completed Burpee-The Complete Flower Gardener
(John Wiley) and are looking for garden writers associated with magazines,
newspapers, radio programs, online sites, and other media who would be
interested in seeing the book for possible review.
Burpee-The Complete Flower Gardener is a comprehensive, environmentally
friendly approach to flower gardening, from understanding the basics of flower
anatomy, choosing a garden site, and designing, planting, and maintaining beds
and borders to propagating plants, selecting tools, and creating special
gardens, including container gardens, cutting gardens, edible flower gardens,
native plant gardens, water gardens, butterfly gardens, and more. “Plant
Portraits,” an encyclopedia of flowers for North American gardens, makes up the book
’s second portion; it details more than 175 plants, with at least one
full-color photograph per entry.
The book also contains a current USDA plant hardiness zone map, spring and
fall frost dates for locations throughout North America, lists of mail-order
and on-line sources for seeds, plants, tools, and garden supplies, equipment,
and organic controls, as well as sources of additional information, such as
horticultural publications and organizations.
