I did a three minute gardening spot on our local NBC TV affiliate  
news for more than 4 years. I was my own
producer and director. All they did was send out a camera person -  
aka a shooter.  It was a lot of work.

   The fact that they are willing to dedicate the time to work with a  
person or persons with no experience, sight unseen tells me
it's a scam or a rookie operation.  If all it took was clear speaking  
to "be a star" we'd all be on TV.
After watching one of my programs I was approached to do the same  
sort of thing a couple of weeks ago.  It was for a website
that featured videos on DIY projects. At least he took the time to  
preview my work. Even if it's legit, I'd pass.
