WHITE HOUSE GARDEN
Re Caroline DeWolde¹s suggestion to to up the cost of the WH vegetable
garden:
And the point of that would be. . .? The White House is unlike any other
home in America, and there is nothing else to compare it to. Of course it
will be expensive?it¹s the first year, staff will be required to care for it
because the First Family has other responsibilities and travel, and it¹s
under an considerable amount of security surveillance. Talking about the
cost of that garden?no matter who pays for it?wouldn¹t seem to me to serve
any purpose that would further gardening or interest in home-grown food. The
WH chef already sources a great deal of produce locally, and has for some
time.
