Live chat software?

Anyone doing live chats from their own office computers?  I'm looking for suggestions for software and hardware to do live chats with an unlimited number of members of the public.  This is for a proposal for a client so I need to put a dollar amount on what it will take to get it up and running.  And then how much time it will take me each time we hold a 30 minute chat.

I'm using a desktop Mac.
