[GWL]: Note to Canadian Garden Writers

Most Canadian garden writers have heard, I assume, that there are been major changes to the AgCan Plant Hardiness Zones. (If not, you can take a look at http://sis.agr.gc.ca/cansis/nsdb/climate/hardiness/intro.html). My question is: in what way will this new information be affecting the information you give out to your readers? Zone 9, for example, has been eliminated entirely: zone 8a is now the warmest zone in Canada. Winnipeg has taken a drop: to 2b! I find the new map closer to the USDA zone map, although there are still differences.

Please note that I'm researching this question for Canadian Gardening Magazine: anything you say may be used by them in an eventual article. Of course, there are worse things than being quoted by a national magazine! If you don't want to clutter the space with your responses, you could always reply directly to my e-mail address at horticom@total.net.

Thanks!

Larry
