Re: [GWL]: In the right areas

Title: In the right areas
Dear All,

Sorry for my contribution to drifting off-topic. But it came naturally to me--I have been teaching the nuts and bolts of organic agriculture and horticulture for a little over 30 years.

It is a particularly good time to introduce myself, because I am looking for work. I was the Senior Editor of Gardening Books for Creative Homeowner. However, in early July, they decided not to add new gardening titles and laid off the department. So I'm looking for work--freelance or not.

My background, as I said, is in organic horticulture and agriculture. My mother ran a small nursery, using organic methods, during the 1950's and 1960's. I was her major help, so horticulture came easily to me. I began farming as an adult; my major crops have been mixed vegetables, small fruits, and cut flowers. I have consulted and taught since 1971, privately and through numerous colleges, universities, and other institutions.

I am sole author of six horticultural books and a co-author or contributor to another six. I have also written lots of articles as well as chapters in various BBG booklets.

So if you hear of good work. . . . .

Miranda Smith

And in reference to your professionalism, I wish more of you would follow the lead of Rick Sorenson and Pride of Place Plants and tell us about the things YOU deal in.
