Re: [GWL]: Hortus, nursery trends

Debra:

Hi!

Not surprising I guess, about Hortus. In Riverside we don't have any "high
end" nurseries but those that are here suffer from Home Depot, K-Mart,
Target, etc. In fairness I have to say that Home Depot here carries quality
material, sometimes out of season and with a poor variety for selection, but
as good as many of the better nurseries. Their personnel, howvever, are
poorly trained and offer as much mis-information as good information to the
inexperienced buyer of nursery stock.

The independent nurseries we have seem to manage even with the competition.

Hortus going out is a bad sign, though.

Jerry
