Re: [GWL]: Lifes work on Hydrangea/Timber Press

I'd suggest Timber Press. You can learn more about them at:
http://www.timberpress.com/ and read their author guidelines at:
http://www.timberpress.com/about/guidelines.cfm I've copied them below for
your convenience.

As a "sidebar," their written guidelines say to contact them early for
editorial guidance, but a Timber Press representative at a trade show
recently told me to submit the book as complete as possible for the highest
chance of being accepted. Does anyone have experience with Timber Press to
say which is best for them. I've just started my first book and need to know.
Thanks!

Timber Press Author Guidelines:
Timber Press welcomes submissions pertaining to horticulture and botany.
As a first step to submitting a manuscript, we recommend that you send (to
the address below) a book proposal consisting of:

1. A letter describing the purpose and audience for your book, along with
your background and qualifications; please indicate your level of computer
literacy, as Timber asks that final manuscript be submitted on disk.

2. An outline or table of contents and an estimate of the length of the
prospective manuscript in double-spaced pages.

3. A sample chapter or two.

4. Sample illustrations as well as an estimate of the total number and type
of illustrations planned for your book.

5. Your schedule to complete the book.

If you wish to have the materials you submit returned to you, please so
indicate and include return postage.
Within eight to twelve weeks, our acquisitions editor will let you know
whether the proposed book seems suitable for Timber's publishing program. At
that time we may ask to see further materials.
Generally we ask authors to submit book proposals early in the writing
process, as this allows us to give editorial advice during the development
phase and cuts down on the amount of revision needed later.
Very best wishes for the success of your writing project.
