RE: [GWL]: Allergy-Free Gardening

Hi, Sheri!

   There has been so much over-use of male (ie seedless, fruitless, litter-free) cultivars in modern landscaping that we now have higher pollen counts inside cities than we do out in the country!
   Sex and plants has been a subject mostly ignored, often considered not too polite. Female plants really are the key to zero-pollen landscapes; the problem is that so few people, even those in the trade, know which is which.
  At any rate, this is the basis of SSITG, but there will be mouch more in it than just this. I have long been researching VOC's and I feel that it is high time we in horticulture start to identify and use plants that are allergy friendly and net VOC removers(smog friendly?). I call these ( if trees) Super Trees. As opposed to Smog-Allergy trees.
  Anyhow, the book is due now and I'm not done by any means. What sort of things do you write??
