I personally would be happy to review a copy of the book if it is provided free of charge. My original comments reflect the written statements in the press release.
The press release contains an alarming contention that deserves discussion and, in my opinion, this forum should be able to provide a platform that is fair and objective. Such a discussion can only occur when there is scientific evidence providing credence to the claim the "gardening contributes to global warming". My search of the web did not discover any supportive documentation.
The press release refers to the author's "Innovative and potentially controversial ...cogent text that redefines the ecology of gardening." I assume the author's knows and understands such a premise would normally be presented to a scientific audience as the result of a lengthy research project. Believe me the tone and tenor of comments would be lively after a presentation at any of the scientific societies that publish peer reviewed articles.
Lacking such evidence, the burden to support his theory can be placed before this forum for discussion. I believe he has been successful in generating controversy, but will it sell books to a main stream gardening pubic?
Membership in the GWAA or this forum does not mean the author's published statements, press releases, or general comments are commonly reflective of accepted gardening, horticultural, or botanical knowledge and practices.

Did anyone happen to notice that Douglas Kent, author of Gardening for
Oxygen, is a MEMBER of this list? He joined recently at my invitation and I
invited him to post something about his book.
I'm a little annoyed at the opinionated comments that have been posted
on the press release because it's apparent that no one has READ the book.
This is the kind of "shoot first, ask questions later" behavior that is NOT
