Re: comments and a couple of queries...


Late summer perennials--perennial aster (aster novae angliae), almost a weed 
in New England, maybe in Canada. too. But it does remarkably well here in 
Southern California where we drink water from a teaspoon, and marvel when the 
weather cools off to under 100 F.

I have grown them for years, several varieties whose names I no longer know. 
They bloom reasonably well the first year, then are gorgeous every year 
thereafter, getting about 18 inches tall, covered with bloom, starting around 
early August and going on  through November when I cut them back.

A great perennial for almost any climate.
