Re: Edible orchids
For any of you who may be even remotely interested, I used to grow Vanilla
at my farm in the jungle of Costa Rica (which I am now trying to sell). It
was a fascinating plant - and a lot of work. When the vanilla (orchid). is
in bloom you must carefully hand polinate it by lifting the stamen. Young
girls are usually employed to do this as their hands are small and more
dextrous. This is part of what makes it so expensive.
