I'll put my two cents worth in. High Country Gardens: Plants for the Western
Garden out of New Mexico is dynamite. They specialize in Xeric plants.  I
live in Michigan, zone 5 and dig in clay soil. I gravel up my soil, add
Schultz's Clay soil conditioner and mulch with pea gravel. It works.
