Re: Press release = customs charges

Before the Chicago symposium, I received a press release with a tiny baseball bat. (It was kinda cute and will make good kindling this winter.) I have forgotten which company sent it and if anyone remembers, please let me know so I can let them send them the bill for the problem explained below.

I received a customs brokerage bill from UPS for $3.00 for the Canadian sales tax on this  gimmicky bat. This seems to be a new problem with Canada customs: they are now charging for every silly thing sent across the border, including gifts. Canadian garden writers and U.S. companies mailing promotions to Canada, beware: Canada customs is greedy and out of control.
