Flowforms are used on many Biodynamic farms to bring energy and eliminate disease. I think Hugh Lovel, in his book, A Biodynamic Farm, may cover Flowforms a bit, and I believe they're also discussed in Grasp the Nettle by Peter Proctor.

I visited Emerson College in England a good number of years ago and saw
some really unique fountains, which I later found were called flowforms.
Imagine a series of oddly shaped pools that caused water to oscillate,
swirl, and even change direction in amazing ways, all due to the shape of
the forms. They are fascinating because when you see what the water does,
you'd swear there had to be pumps and mechanisms to guide it that way.
I bring this up because someone just sent me a copy of a recently
published book, "Flowforms - The Rhythmic Power of Water" by John Wilkes,
2003, Floris Books, ISBN 0-86315 392-5 This book is very thick with
philosophy and theory which doesn't make for light reading, but the essence
is the flowforms and what they can be used for.
My point in all this is that if someone with more water garden experience
than I were to write up a more direct, simpler book, with good plans for
some of these, I believe flowforms would be THE next hot item in gardening.
They are AMAZING.
And if such a book has already been done, I'd sure like to know about it.
This is a hot new item waiting to happen.
