I've considered suggesting the use of a journal, where different

I have used regular tags with marker (or slats from old window blinds etc.) and put them into a little plastic baggie - the snack size.  Ziploc seem to work better than the zipper kind.  Then bury the tag in the baggie in the pot itself. Although I didn't use it for winter sowing, I used it this way for forcing stratification onto seeds prior to germination - so only about 8-10 weeks of winter weather.  I put them out usually in January - March.
