Re: Is it finger blight?
Here's a slightly different "take" of finger blight.
At our nursery/garden centre, just after fruit set, I usually hide away a
peach and a nectarine tree.
We, the workers, allow ourselves one freshly picked peach each- I can't
think any other fruit that changes taste so quickly as a peach (Is there a
technical term for that? gusto-labile?)
Why do I hide one? Customers pick the fruit and eat it. Some have been seen
putting several apples, pears, plums etc into bags for taking home. By 9 a.m
on a Sat our raspberries and strawberries look as if pappa, mamma and baby
bear had strolled through.
People take slips, composted plants, seeds, etc and think nothing of it.
Their theory- it's not like we're stealing a real plant and, besides, you
got lots of them anyway.
So it goes, eh?
