Iowa-Omaha Gardens

I'm traveling through Iowa to Omaha, NE the last week in August to attend a wedding and family reunion.  The drive is about 7 hours from my home in North-Central Illinois, but I'd like to stop along the way to enjoy gardens or nurseries of note.  I don't have a clue as to what is in the area.  Can anyone make suggestions?
