Re: Tomato Tasting Festival ideas

I like the idea of "dressing up" a tomato - maybe even with all edible items
so that it can be consumed later after being judged and photographed. This
may also get tomato-averse kids to try some new foods.

Also love the tomato-wine pairings idea -- will keep that in back of my mind
for a less public (i.e. not open to groups of passing teens) events.

Agreed - food should not be wasted which is why I immediately rejected the
tomato-eating contest ideas that other organizers proposed - eating
"competitions" always bother me morally when I see news coverage them - aside from also
being just plain gross.

Thanks all for ideas so far - I knew this was a creative and resourceful
bunch! :-)

Sincerely,
Kathy Jentz

If you want a little messy fun, how about a Mr. Tomato Head contest (as in
Mr. Potato Head) maybe for kindergarten through 2nd grade participants. The
photos of kids making their tomato heads might get you some news coverage or
at least look cool in your magazine.
