Re: Mass Hort's Unpaid Bills
I have a dim recollection that the IRS tax code does not recognize this
type of "donation" of services as tax-deductible, so you would lose out
there, as well. Perhaps someone with more tax accounting expertise would
comment?
I am curious to know whether those who had this problem had a contract or
letter of agreement. If so, you may be able to get a judgement in small
claims court. If the organization does go bankrupt, those vendors with
judgements get paid first. You may still not get paid if there is not
enough money, but at least you'd have a chance.
