Re: your opinions re: stolen from the web
This may sound awful, but by the time I started my blog (2007) I just
assumed theft would happen, although I didn't imagine every photo I
posted would appear on Google Image and be so easily accessible. This
caused two results: I never post my best photos -- those that I think
could sell; and I write in broad generalities much of the time. As
someone who cares about quality, I feel this dumbs-down my site, but the
alternative would be to have my best work pirated.
I modeled my blog after someone I admire, who gives away a lot of
information for free in order to generate other business, but it would
still hurt to find someone stealing my stuff. In these matters one has to
decide for oneself whether it's worth it. My blog is not an income
generator; I view it as advertising myself.
Susan Appleget-Hurst posted a while back asking about new models of
publishing on the web. I think the pirating issue has to be addressed by
any new model. I would be interested to have Susan's comments on this
issue.
Regards,
Lois
