no tilling at Rodale

I too had the pleasure of visiting the Rodale farm when GWA was there two years ago, and I remember that although the no till plan was working for them, they DID say that they needed to till the fields every third or fourth year to control the weeds. They found that for two years the corn could out-compete the weeds (and I have many shots of corn and bindweed growing together at their farm) but that after that the weeds would overtake the crops if the land wasn't turned.

I remember liking that they weren't absolutely wedded to one method or the other but were willing to experiment and see what would work best.
