Editorial Intern at AHS

This was passed on to me - just helping to get the word out:

>>Editorial Internship with National Magazine

Working on the staff of American Horticultural Society’s official
publication, The American Gardener, an editorial intern will have the opportunity to
experience first-hand the inner workings of one of America’s longest-running
and critically acclaimed four-color national gardening magazines. Primary duties
include researching and writing short articles, proofreading and
fact-checking, and coordinating author and photographer submissions.

As part of a broad-based exposure to gardening and horticultural
communication, the editorial intern will also participate with other AHS interns in
guided field trips to prominent local gardens such as the U.S. National
Arboretum, Dumbarton Oaks, and Mt. Vernon.

Internships are available for three- to six-month periods. These periods are
roughly divided into winter/spring (January to May), summer (mid May through
August), and fall (September through December), but may vary based on the
schedules for individual interns. Interns are paid $9 per hour and work a
37.5-hour week. Application deadlines are as follows: Winter/Spring (November  1);
Summer (March 1); Fall (deadline extended to September 10, 2008).

To receive an application form, or for further information about the
internship, send an e-mail request to editor@ahs.org or contact David J. Ellis at
the address listed above. An application form can also be downloaded from the
AHS Web site at _www.ahs.org_ (http://www.ahs.org) .<<
