I've used hot pepper flakes on corn to deter raccoons and have had great
success with it. BUT, one year, I used cayenne powder liberally on
developing ears. Some of the cayenne lodged in between the kernels.
Customers were not impressed, nor was my family. To freeze corn that year, I
had to strip it and wash it before bagging it....
I don't know if it hurt the raccoon's eyes or not. I do know that the
raccoons cut into my already slim profit on corn.
