Re: Self-Publishing Protocol

TC, I say yes to blurbs. I think they especially belong on the back cover where they help give the book credibility when someone picks it up to have a look.

A foreword? Again, yes, but keep it on the short side. It's a great place to explain the purpose of the book and how it came to be. Good for you, not calling it a forward. You can include acknowledgements in the foreword if you like.

Another thing, on the top left of the back cover, add the category names you think the book should have. Bookstores sometimes use these when deciding where to place the book.

A sentence of two about the author and a quick overview of the contents of the book can be on the back cover but save the author bio for inside the book.

Good luck!

I'm organizing a "best of" collection of articles with botanical drawings
and will self-publish a book soon. I would appreciate y'alls input on the
following:

  1. Blurbs. Yes or no? Why or why not?
  2. Foreword. Yes or no, why or why not?
  3. Back cover. More blurbs, author bio, both, or one or the other? Why?
