I cant tell you about gifts I've recommended but I can tell you
about those I received.
- A friend gave me a sack of manure for my 40th birthday and I laughed for a week. Then I spread it in the garden.
- Many years ago, I told my husband that what I really wanted for my birthday was a wheelbarrow. He complied and I was delighted.
- I absolutely hate gifts of those fiberglass animals that look to be carved stone and styled as if I gardened in England. I garden in arid Southern California where bunnies (as opposed to jackrabbits) and piggies have no place.
- Birdhouses and cute little garden adornments must be judged carefully to be sure they are appropriate for the style of the garden and the gardener.
- The best gift is a gift of labor -- a half day of work in the garden is welcomed by young and old alike!
