Re: [GWL]: Garden Catalogs
The best catalog for annuals and perennial flowers and vegetables by far, for
every-day, down to earth listings and good service has to be Park. Second is
Thompson and Morgan, once you get by the British spelling and the listings
that are fit only for England. Third, and I am shy about admitting it since I
worked for them for 30 years, is Burpee, who has had a hard time finding
something that worked in the catalog business since the time David Burpee
sold the company back in the 70s. Burpee is still there, but not what they
used to be. Stokes is great for excellent service and a good listing of
vegetables, short on flowers. Nichols Garden Nursery has a very good listing
of many unusual and hard to find varieties.I have no opinion on catalogs that
list live plants, since in Southern California we seldom buy live plants by
mail order.
