RE: [GWL]: Bird Feeders

Duncraft sells a product that is like shade cloth and covers the ground
around the feeder but does not kill the grass. The hulls are caught in the
material and can be dumped every week or so. The same objective can be
accomplished with fleece, the polyspun ultra light white material sold as
floating row covers or as seed starter material for lawn grass. You can cut
the piece to fit your circumstances. The fleece allows air, light, and
water through but catches all the hulls.

Subject: [GWL]: Bird Feeders

Does anyone have an idea on how to design the area around a bird feeder
to compensate for the effect of sunflower seeds killing all the
vegetation? Please write to me at fgustman@juno.com.

Thanks,
