Re: [GWL]: The decline of garden writing

All these threads relating the number of newspapers that have reduced or eliminated gardening columns and gardening articles is frightening and should give us reason to pause and think.  It seems that the reductions began long before the current economic situation.  There also appears to be a substantial reduction of editorial pages in gardening magazines...as well as a reduction in the number of magazines.
Is it time for us to explore the role of garden writers in this dilemma?  Have we let our readers down?  Have we failed to cultivate readers and keep them involved and educated?  Have we completely failed to stimulate them?  Have we as garden writers simply...failed?
