Here in Madison Co. IL. the Master Gardener program runs once a week for 15 
weeks. The sessions are from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The cost is $85 and graduates 
are obligated to complete 60 hours of volunteer service within 12 months of 
completing the program. Illinois garden writers might be Master Gardeners, 
but they are not allowed to use the title for anything except volunteer 
work. And we have both Garden Clubs and Master Gardeners here in my town.
