[GWL]: Holiday Thoughts

>From the Deep South, I send greetings and sincere thanks to all on this list
for posting, writing, and arguing to provide so much insight. I made a
mental link recently between the 300+ firefighters lost at the World Trade
Center and the 400+ garden writers usually present at GWAA conventions, say
at the awards ceremonies or boarding that line of buses. To grasp that so
many of one's profession could disappear at once gave me great pause. So
many voices stilled in one heart. I write this not to ruin your holiday, but
to pass along another reason to celebrate both the lives lost and those
found in the wake of events. I hear from my radio audience that they are
taking the time to tell people the things folks usually don't say to one
another. We've always nested down here, but now it seems we're making more
room in the comfort zone. With temperatures predicted in the 20's all week
(that's +20, Jeff, but still sunny)it looks like we'll get plenty of time to
practice.
Have a very merry,
Nellie Neal
