Someone I know who has a large orchard in Ohio had a difficult and
persistent deer problem.  He also has a neighbor with two dogs (labs) who
loved to roam both their own yard and the neighboring orchard.  The orchard
owner made a deal with his neighbor that, if he installed a dog fence that
included the orchard, the dogs could have free run throughout.  There has
been no deer problem since.  It was a beneficial agreement for both.
