Re: Deer Fencing
I had a deer problem for about 3 years. They came and ate my hostas and my pear trees: of everything I had, they were very specific. None of my fences, etc. worked. What worked was my (new) dog. The low fenced area that contained a dog was suddenly unattractive to deer. My plants and trees regrew, and I have not had a problem since. No one told the deer that my Sheltie woofs but isn't particularly dangerous. So they treated my happy woofer as if she was a wolf-pack-incarnate and they all left. It has been 6 years and no deer. I don't know if this is for everybody, and it wasn't why I got the dog, but it was a result of the dog's presence. I am across the street from a 2500 acre state park preserve with a deer overpopulation that goes into the suburban countryside in fall and winter for dinner.
