Re: Plugging My Stuff

Title: Re: [GWL] Plugging My Stuff
This sounds so cool, Ellen, and also makes me wonder who else on the list has a special career or talent outside of garden writing. Stories, anyone?

Ok, now THIS is the kind of thing that is well worth mentioning.  It's unusual, it tells us more about a list member, and it's the kind of thing that could make a good, if slightly offbeat, garden gift.    Ellen's next project should be music FOR the plants, to help them grow better.

Keep it up.

[From Ellen Zachos]
For those of you who don't know me, my first career was as a Broadway
performer.  I greatly prefer life as a horticulturist, but I still love
to sing, so this year I recorded a collection of songs about plants.
It's entitled "Green Up Time" (Ellen Zachos sings Botanical Broadway).
You might be surprised by how many show tunes there are about plants,
flowers, and fruit; I know I was.

This recording includes popular musical theatre songs by Rogers &
Hammerstein, Leonard Bernstein, and Jule Styne, among others.  You'll
also find little known gems by Ira & George Gershwin, Lerner & Lane,
and Rogers & Hart.  I was fortunate to work with world class musicians
from both the jazz and Broadway arenas.
